Agent clients
Choose a Dreamstate MCP connection guide for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, or another client.
Connect Dreamstate to the AI client you already use. Each guide uses the same remote MCP server URL and uses OAuth to sign you in to the right workspace. Start with whoami.
Choose your client
Choose the guide for the product where you will use Dreamstate. All guides use https://mcp.trydreamstate.com/mcp. OAuth is first. Use a workspace machine key only for CI or a client without OAuth.
After the connection
Start with whoami and confirm the workspace before asking for work. Read MCP reference for the MCP controls and Your first session for a first workflow.
Use the client guide that matches where you work, then keep the server URL and its connection in the client settings instead of a prompt. A successful whoami result confirms the workspace, not that every conversation has the connector enabled. For paid work, read tools do not need confirmation. If a sign-in page stalls, start the connection again from that client so it can receive the OAuth return. If a client cannot use OAuth, the Other MCP clients guide explains the workspace machine key header option. For Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Grok, use the CLI to install Dreamstate skills automatically.
Install the CLI and skills
Open CLI and MCP at /dashboard/settings/api for the Claude, ChatGPT, and CLI tabs. The Claude and ChatGPT tabs include a Copy first prompt button.
The CLI needs Node.js 22 or newer. Install it, then run dreamstate login. The browser approval signs you in and installs every hosted Dreamstate skill for each detected Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor installation. Use dreamstate login --no-skills to skip that installation.
npm install -g @trydreamstate/cli
dreamstate loginOn a remote or SSH box, create a session in the app and run dreamstate login --token <token>. If no agent is detected, or skill installation fails, login still succeeds and prints Run dreamstate skills install to install Dreamstate skills. to standard error.
