Connect Cursor

Connect Cursor to Dreamstate MCP as a remote MCP server.

Connect Cursor to Dreamstate so Cursor can work with the selected Dreamstate workspace. Use OAuth first, so there is no key to copy.

Once connected, you can ask Cursor to:

  • Build a scored lead list in a workbook.
  • Enrich workbook rows with work emails.
  • Draft and launch a sequence.
  • Schedule a LinkedIn post.
  • Check AI visibility or read why a run failed.

Before you start

You need a Dreamstate workspace and a Cursor installation where remote MCP servers are allowed.

Step-by-step setup

  1. 1

    Open MCP setup

    In Cursor, open Settings > MCP, or open the mcp.json configuration file.
  2. 2

    Add Dreamstate

    Add a remote server named dreamstate using the URL below, then save the settings or file.
  3. 3

    Log in

    Select Dreamstate in Cursor's MCP settings and follow the browser login prompt when Cursor asks you to authenticate.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dreamstate": {
      "url": "https://mcp.trydreamstate.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Authenticate with Dreamstate

A browser window opens from Cursor. Sign in with your Dreamstate account, choose the workspace, then return to Cursor. Use a workspace machine key only for CI and clients without OAuth.

Test the connection

Run whoami and tell me which Dreamstate workspace you are connected to.

If it returns your workspace name, setup is complete.

For team or organization setups

Cursor team administrators can control which MCP servers are available. Share the Dreamstate server name and URL with the team, then have each member sign in, choose a workspace, and verify it with whoami.

What to do next

Read Quickstart, MCP reference, or Your first session.

When it goes wrong

  • I do not see the MCP option. Update Cursor or open its mcp.json configuration from the MCP setup area. Your organization may also restrict remote MCP servers.
  • The sign-in window opened but nothing happens. Start login again from Cursor's MCP settings, complete sign-in in that browser window, and return to Cursor. A redirect refused error means the flow must start from Cursor.
  • Cursor cannot find Dreamstate tools. Return to Settings > MCP, confirm Dreamstate is connected, then enable it for the active Cursor chat or agent session.
  • It connected to the wrong workspace. Run whoami, then reconnect and choose the intended workspace. A 401 Missing Bearer response means OAuth sign-in needs to be completed again.

Best practices

  • Test the connection immediately with whoami.
  • Enable Dreamstate for each chat or agent session where Cursor requires it.
  • Read tools do not need confirmation because MCP tools declare readOnlyHint.
